Gary
W. Ware |
|
My
thirty years of business experience has provided me with a wealth
of knowledge to draw on for my clients. After operating Gary W.
Ware Business Consultancy for several years, I joined forces with
Bernard Press, OD. I am now the President of Practice Consultants.
I had
served as Vice President of Primary Eyecare Network, overseeing
the day-to-day operations of the company. My responsibilities at
PEN also included all practice consulting services, appraisals,
the Financial Improvement Techniques program, the annual Vital Statistics
Survey and analysis, and the Patient Satisfaction Survey service.
Prior
to joining PEN, I owned my own businesses for ten years, including
a small business consulting firm. Earlier, I held a variety of technical
and management positions at Fortune 100 corporations, and was Assistant
Dean of the Graduate School of Management at the University of Rochester.
I hold
MBA and BS Engineering degrees, as well as a Broker license. I am
member of the California Association of Business Brokers, the International
Business Brokers Association, and I am a certified Industry Specialist
(optometric practices) for Business Brokerage Press.

Bernard
Press, OD, FAAO

I have
been a licensed business broker since 1985, after operating my own
successful practice for more than thirty years. A few of the many
volunteer positions I have held are: Vision Service Plan Board of
Directors and President, Encinitas Rotary Club President, and Cardiff
Elementary School Board President.
My
professional experience has included lecturing at UCBSO and SCCO,
expert witness testimony, author of several optometric practice
management articles, and participant on panel discussions related
to exit strategies for optometrists. The National Society of Appraisers
Professional Certification Board has designated me as a Board Certified
Appraiser.
Practice
Consultants was started in 1989 to provide brokerage, appraisal
and consulting services to ophthalmic practices. In 2003 we merged
with Gary W. Ware Business Consultancy.

James
G. Metz,
OPT, PhD |
|
I am
president of a privately owned contact lens practice, specializing
in Keratoconus, and a low vision rehabilitation practice. I also
serve as Vice Chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Interboro
Institute of NYC, a Board member of the J.T. Mather Hospital, an
examiner for the NYS Department of Professional Licensing, a Fellow
of the Contact Lens Society of America, a Fellow of the National
Academy of Opticianry, and a certified speaker for the ABO and NCLE.
I have
been involved in all aspects of the Tri-Ophthalmic industry, including
laser manufacturing, IOL companies, spectacle lens companies, and
was the COO of an 8-office ophthalmology/optometry practice with
an Ambulatory Surgical Center.

Dave Husted |

With a diverse background in start-up technology and retail businesses, including large corporations, my experience fits perfectly with the needs of buyers and sellers of small and mid-size private businesses and clinical practices.
Prior to co-founding ProBus Commercial, I started a retail business and grew the loyal customer base to more than 5,000 in less than four years. Previously, I worked in sales at leading accounting and consulting services firm, Ernst & Young LLP, and at a national computer integration company. I have worked with numerous start-up companies in fields such as software, semiconductor technology and sports medicine technology.
My bachelor's degree is in Business from San Diego State University.
